OT: Photosynth goes to Washington

I read a post on the Photosynth blog today that really got me excited.  It’s not necessarily SQL related, but stick with me on the topic…

The Photosynth team is partnering with CNN to cover tomorrow’s inauguration in a way that could change large scale events.  Basically, you have the opportunity to send in a photo taken from the event that will be included in one massive Photosynth.  The detail available of this event is pretty mind-blowing.  Instead of the flat, single perspective photos I remember from history classes my daughter (all 16 months of her) will be able to look back on this event and get a 360 degree view of the day.

Want to know who was in the third row, 15th seat?  That’s available.  Want to see what’s in someone’s teeth while they are smiling, you’ll get that too (hey, not all advances are good ones).  The way someone can take in an event will be very much changed, and for the better I believe.  While it’s not jet-packs or flying cars the future has to excite any lover of technology.
